Hedonism Monastery: Family Trip

Hedonism Monastery is a phrase that came to me when thinking of how to describe an Airbnb

trip my friends and I took on New Year’s Day 2022. We stayed in a nowhere town in the

Adirondacks and spent the entire time practicing non-sobriety. Since then, we’ve gone on

several trips with the same intent, most notably the Adirondack trip we took Jan 1st - 5th, 2023.

The footage from that trip will be released as Holiday In The Mountain: Hedonism Monastery.

This footage was taken on Jan 12th, 2025, in Asbury Park, NJ. Despite the epigraph, we were

tripping shrooms, not acid, taken via lemontek. When telling people about it, I’ve described the

movie as “Psychedelic Home Video,” with the through-line being a (good) bad joke connecting

individual funny moments.
